Montenegro

More of Montenegro

From Kotor we drove up into the mountains to Lovcen National Park. The roads were narrow with lots of hairpin turns. Views were fantastic.
On the road through the park.

Looking down at Kotor from over 4,200 feet elevation.

View from our campsite.

Picnic area.

Next we drove to Durmitor National Park. Again the roads were narrow, winding and CLIFF HANGING.

Hwy E65 following the river canyon. It had lots of tunnels.
We encountered a road block. They were not motivated to get out of the way no matter what the herder did.

The Tara Bridge - There are two zip lines spanning the river, one on each side of the bridge.

If you look closely below the distant sign, two people are zipping across the river.

A storm moved in and it snowed. We were over 5,000 feet in elevation.

Is it really May 20th?

Now off to Bosnia.

Montenegro

Montenegro - This tiny country was a surprise to us. We didn't know what to expect. It is beautiful and very rugged.

The city of Kotor on the Bay of Kotor.

Camped for free right on the water in Kotor.

View from the campsite.

Walls of the Kotor fortress surround the city. They go to the top of the mountain, 260 meters above sea level.

Wall cleaning crew.

Street views of old town Kotor.

Night views of old town and the walls.

Views from hiking up the fortress walls.

If you know where to look you can see our camping spot.

Red poppies grow everywhere.

There are a lot of stairs to the top, 1350 in 1200 meters. That is a lot of elevation in a short distance.

Going down was not as bad as going up. You could enjoy the view.

Croatia

Dubrovnik - Our last beautiful city on the Croatian coast.

You enter the city via this wonderful bridge.

Finding parking for the Sprinter can be challenging. Sometimes you just have to squeeze in where ever you find a spot.

We arrived on a Sunday. The city was crowded with tourists. The weather was damp and gray. This is the main pedestrian street in old town.
Street musicians. The music was good. To bad they only sell cd's. We have no way of playing them.

The next day, Monday, we did the wall walk in the afternoon. We had a sunny day and about half as many people. Views of the wall and old town Dubrovnik.

Time out for a refreshing smoothie break with a fabulous view.

Old town harbor.

Another view from the wall.

Good bye Dubrovnik. We are on our way to Montenegro.

Croatia

Split and Makarska Croatia

Split  -  Split is a large city. It had a very different vibe then the towns we had previously visited. It was a very busy place and not near as scenic. The old town did have one difference - it had very old Roman ruins.

View of the harbor.

Split has wide sidewalk area of cafes and shops between the harbor and old town. The perfect spot to sit and have gelato.

Photos of old town

Girls in traditional dress. They sang in a tower in old town. The acoustics were fabulous.
Inside the tower where the girls sang.

View from and of Hwy E65, the road we drove along the coast.

Makarska
View of the harbor.

Sidewalk along the harbor.

Sculpture called Monument to the Tourist.

More love locks. They are everywhere in Croatia.

Main square in old town Makarska.
